Welcome to the world of a group of audacious MIT math geniuses who legally took the Las Vegas casinos for over three million dollars -- and still found time for keg parties, football games, and final exams. The students were handpicked for a decades-old underground blackjack club dedicated to beating the system. Filled with tense action and incredibly close calls, this is a real-life mix of Liar's Poker and Ocean's Eleven -- and a story Vegas doesn't want you to read.

What You Said

Arnie, 12/12/2003    Good
If you have ever had the urge to be able to walk into a casino as a high roller knowng that you would walk out a winner this book will interest you. It reads like a dime store novel and is pretty light. But it is a factual retelling of how a team of mathematically adept students from MIT worked out a system of probability and implemented it to be able to win big at black jack and I mean big. The intrigue in this book is not only how they did it but how the winning affected them personally and as a team, how Vegas and the casinos will stop at nothing to protect their money and finally the disillusionment with the high life. Overall it is a quick fun read and a good one to check out before your next trip to Vegas.

Glowing Reviews and Other Opinions

In the Greed Is Good '80s, a group of MIT geniuses decided to break the bank at Las Vegas. Utilizing their own mathematical wizardry and large doses of moxie, these six co-conspirators legally beat Vegas's largest casinos out of more than $3 million in less than two years. Harvard University graduate/thriller author Ben Mezrich has recomposed their story, an arresting hybrid of Liar's Poker, The Cuckoo's Egg, and Ocean's Eleven. - from Barnes and Noble
